Whimsical Christmas Ornaments - Best Girl Friends, Butterfly, Santa Claus and Glitzy Girls Ornaments
Xmas ornaments have diversified in all sorts of directions over the last 30 years or so, and you will find them hanging in a variety of places inside and outside the house.
The traditional place for hanging Christmas ornaments of any type at Christmas is the Christmas tree, like the friends ornaments pictured left) but that does not stop you hanging them wherever you can find, or put up, a hook or nail, a door knob, or even on your mother-in-law's ear while she's sleeping off Christmas lunch.

Christmas, of course, is also known as the festive season, and surely a little festivity assumes a bit of whimsical behaviour. So, why not some light relief with some whimsical Christmas ornaments?
I have fond memories of the good old Christmas fairy, but above left you will find two quite whimsical fairies, making quite dainty decorations. Silver is a great colour for the holiday season, adding natural sparkle to the living room of any home.
Of course, Christmas is a time for snow, even though most of us will not see a snowflake all year, let alone on Christmas Day. So, it is nice to make up for that the silvery glitz of those snowy ornaments. Christmas holidays are also a great time to remember best friends so you may well like the girl friends ornaments at the top. Snow also reminds us of Santa Claus, so what better than Santa for whimsical ornaments during the holiday season, such as those shown above right?

For those living in the north of the northern hemisphere, it is cold in December, so there is no chance of seeing butterflies. However, a whimsical reminder of summer is no bad thing on the Christmas tree, so I rather like the pretty butterfly ornament left.
The thing I like about whimsical Christmas ornaments is that they can spread smiles where maybe there would have been no more than a glance before. And if there is one thing it is really nice to do in the holiday season is spread a few smiles!
