Vintage And Antique Christmas Ornaments

There is something about Christmas that brings out the nostalgia in people; well, in adults anyway. Memories of childhood Christmases, Grandma's recollection of what Christmas used to be like before it was so commercial, taste buds that seem to remember better tasting Christmas treats than you can get these days; all these types of thoughts surface during the festive season.

When it comes to Xmas ornaments, then even the most modern of designs for holiday season decor quite often have an antique or vintage feel about them, carrying on some of the Christmas traditions of old.

Take for example the bell ornament pictured above left. While modern in style, and a welcome departure from the simple round Christmas ball ornament, its red berries and pine cone, with pine leaves and a gold and silver ribbon, give it a traditional elegance. Not a true antique, of course, but with vintage elements that feed the nostalgic whims of many at Christmas time.

There are many more designs with Christmas themes to them. Poinsettias have been a favourite flowering plant at Christmas for decades, so when transported to an ornament immediately add a nice nostalgic, and colourful, touch.
