Christmas Wall Ornaments And Decor

Christmas is a time when most of us like to go a bit mad with Christmas decorations, and it is not just the tree that forms the base for all those Xmas ornaments. Most homes have what seem a vast expense of blank space on the walls, so it does become a temptation to fill some of that space with wall ornaments and decorations of one sort or another, whether vintage, modern, or antique.

When we are decorating for Christmas, we are faced with all that space to fill on the walls; what a temptation that is, we just can't wait to decorate it! It is no surprise that manufacturers have come up with a wide variety of wall ornaments to help fill those blank expanses, some of which are totally unique and modern, while others bring a vintage look to a new style, making something that is part of a new trend appear quite antique.

Them, of course, there is the practical side of Christmas decoration, like sending letters to Santa. There can be so much preparation for Xmas, you will no doubt need to have a few reminders around. Yes, you can have notes attached to the fridge with Christmas magnets, but how about a vintage style plaque of Santa (above left)? This doubles as a wall decoration, and is very stylish and unusual.

There is certainly a touch of antiquity about the classic Christmas stocking you see on the left. Yet it is modern in concept, and you would not have seen such a Christmas decoration in Victorian times. This particular wall hanging ornament is made unique by the hand painting and the way it is assembled.

Christmas wreaths do go back a long way, and are a traditional decoration on the front doors of homes across America and Europe. But wreaths also have a use inside, and a more delicate wreath can look great on a wall.

Christmas is, of course, a religious holiday for those of the Christian faith, so a tastefully deigned cross with flowers or a wreath can bring a touch of life and significance to any blank wall in the home. Christmas decor does not have to be garish, as the cross on the left shows.
