Christmas Garland Giant and Small Decorations
Also: Prelit Christmas Garlands
My own recollections of Christmas garlands from the 1950's and 1960's were of a circular wreath of holly, with some holly berries if available, are some other red decoration if not. Maybe my memory is incomplete, and there were many other forms Xmas garlands hanging outside. If made from real holly, at least they were cheap, but only if you could find your own and put together a hand made decoration.
Things have come on a long way since then, and you now have a wide choice of hanging ornaments, including garlands. The giant Christmas ornament on the left, for example, is far removed from the traditional wreath. It can adorn the front do
or, inside or outside, or any other door in the house for that matter.
This example is a bright and cheerful "Welcome" garland, which compares nicely with the rather dour, funereal wreath style with its dark colours. In this one Santa is flying sleigh free, not a good sign for air traffic on the night before Christmas! Plus he appears to have lost a solitary reindeer, but maybe the snowman and angel will help with the search party.

These newer style Xmas garlands are versatile and interesting. Each metal, hand painted ornament is unusual, and incorporate modernised Christmas characters such as those in the first picture.
Santa Claus, of course, will descend the chimney while you are asleep. Imagine how delighted he would be to find himself and four reindeer stretched across the fireplace in the elongated garland above?
