Christmas Tree Accessories

Have you ever seen a plain Christmas tree in a home? No lights, no decorations, no ornaments of any type? Almost certainly not, unless the tree had just been put out and was not yet decorated. The fact is, a Christmas tree is just a tree until it is adorned with decorations.

Most Important Christmas Tree Accessories

It is probably wrong to think of the most important Christmas tree accessories, as it is all a matter of taste as to how you adorn your tree. You could come up with a totally unique design for your tree decorations and accessories that bears little relation to what others have traditionally done before.

However, for the purpose of this article we will keep to the traditional Christmas tree decoration ideas, and the accessories for your tree you might consider, with a few modern conveniences thrown in.

Christmas Tree Lights

To most people, the most important feature of a Christmas tree's decoration is the lights. Many of us start to feel Christmas is really here when the lights are on the tree and switched on for the first time.

Choosing the Christmas tree lights may be easy if you have little choice locally. That could depend on where you live. When I moved from England to the Philippines in 2000, I was surprised that the limited choice of tree lights in England was quite the opposite to the Philippines where, surprisingly, the choice is much greater. The main difference has been the variety of sequence lighting available here, and that can make a Christmas tree that much more attractive. Maybe things have changed in England since 2000.

The important thing, though, is to at least have some lights on the Christmas tree. They do not have to be flashing sequenced lights for good effect; nor do they have to be coloured. A single colour, especially white, can be very effective if the rest of the tree accessoires are in keeping.

Christmas Tree Topper Ornaments

One of the old traditions of Christmas tree decoration was to have a tree topper. That old tradition of Christmas tree toppers continues to this day, although the choices are much broader today than in past times. With a bit of searching, though, you may still find a vintage Christmas tree fairy to put on top of the tree.

Christmas Ball Ornaments

One of the long established accessories to hang as decoration on a Christmas tree is the Christmas ball ornament. Such ornaments can be found in glass, ceramic, marble and other modern materials.

There are, of course, many other ornaments you can hang from the tree, such as edible ornaments, and you can add tinsel, ribbons and other Christmas decor to finish the display.

On the left is a revolving Christmas tree stand. No more worries about the angle from which people will view your tree decorations. Decorate the tree in uniform space, and which the tree revolve so that all sides of the tree are seen.

 

If you are planning on an artificial Christmas tree this year, then the one thing that may spoil it is the tree stand. They are usually quite ugly plastic or metal affairs, not at all conducive to a decorous display.

However, what if you could cover the stand in an attractive way? Well, you can. You can either make a cover yourself out of a Christmas theme material, have one made by a curtain maker or other needlework expert, or buy one similar to the example shown above left.
