Having a nativity set displayed outside is a very old and traditional way of heralding Christmas. For practising Christians, Christmas is all about marking the nativity, the birth of Jesus Christ.

Outdoor nativity sets live on in many forms for gardens and public displays. Coming in varying sizes, you may see wooden stable nativities constructed by local churches, even cardboard nativity sets made by schoolchildren and kept under shelter.

Here where I live, in Puerto Princesa, a massive outdoor nativity display is still under construction, in the Capitol Building grounds, after about two months of work. It's dimensions? I can only guess, but it is probably 60 feet long and 35 feet high. When complete, I will add some pictures here in its lit and unlit forms. To date, hills and mountains are in place, the stable is ready, and the sheep, without shepherd, are already there. It will certainly be an impressive nativity scene when ready.
