Christmas Kids Crafts - Fun and Easy Ways to Keep Kids Occupied in the Holiday Season

Here are some fun and easy Christmas crafts for the youngest of children, including preschoolers and kindergarteners that you can make with them this holiday season:

Puppy Presents

Don't forget our furry friends at Christmas time and have the kids help make treat bags that are fit for the dogs.

What You Will Need:

- lunch bags
- craft glue
- ribbon
- crayons or markers
- stapler
- construction paper
- embellishments
- doggie treats

What To Do:

First, have the children draw designs on the bags, or using the computer and your printer, print pictures of the family or whatever you'd like on the front of the treat bags. They can also draw on construction paper, and then cut out the shapes and pictures to glue onto the bags. The kids can then personalize the bags with their dog's name using the crayons or markers, and then fill with dog treats and biscuits.

It's always a good idea to put the biscuits in a plastic baggie first before putting into the lunch bags. Roll the top of the bag down and staple closed, then add a ribbon for the bow.

Star Ornaments

Brighten up the tree this year with handmade ornaments that will surely be treasured for many years to come.

What You Will Need:

- craft sticks, the kind that come with popsicles
- acrylic paint or markers
- craft or hot glue
- decorative embellishments of your choice
- ribbon or string

What To Do:

Using five craft sticks, arrange them together in the form of a star, you can draw one on paper first if it's easier for the kids to follow. Glue the ends together with craft glue or a hot glue gun if an adult is able to help, and allow to dry. If you don't have colored craft sticks, allow the kids to paint them first with acrylic paints, or with markers

Next, decorate the stars to your heart's content using any number of embellishments, including everything from beads and buttons to faux jewels and crystals, or simple craft glitter sprinkled all over the star, just be careful with the small pieces around the little ones. Form a loop from a piece of pretty ribbon and glue to the back of the star. Kids can personalize theirs with their names, or make them to give as gifts, or simply use them to add a homey touch to the Christmas tree.
