Santa Claus Ornaments at the Beach and at Sea

The approach to Christmas can, for many, be a stressful and hectic time. So much so, as you fight your way through the department store crowds in search of Christmas gifts and decorations, you might well be feeling all at sea. So, it would not be surprising if you wanted to be cheered up by some fun nautical or beach ornaments to hang on your tree, or scatter around the home.

To those in North America and Europe, Christmas falls in the winter when it can be cold and miserable, even if everyone is singing about a white Christmas as if it were the greatest thing since sliced bread. In reality, though, most are probably dreaming of warm summer days, frolicking on the beach and in the sea. Instead of (or as well as) flicking through the summer vacation brochures and watching travel shows on television, why not combine the two with some novelty ornaments that bring a touch of summer to the winter and also a smile to people's faces?

Santa Claus is always associated with cold, snow and Christmas, but as with all public figures, he does need to relax when off duty. Did you never wonder what he did in the summer? If Santa ever had a vacation in a lovely tropical beach location?

Well, as you can see from the novelty Xmas ornaments shown top left, Santa does have himself a bit of fun. Showing a bit of summer podge around his middle, you can see is frolicking both on the sea and the beach, thoughts of which are enough to cheer anyone but a professional skier on a crisp winter's evening. They would brighten up that Christmas tree too!

As you can see in the second picture, Santa is also a part time mariner, taken to sailing the high seas (or maybe just the low seas, I am not sure of his nautical competence!) on his sail boat, having abandoned his sea going icebreaker for the summer. He even has a seagull on his shoulder rather than a parrot, just to show he is no pirate in his spare time. This 9 inch ornament would look rather good perched on the mantelpiece or display cabinet.

Christmas, though, is not just about Santa. It is a season when people can just go.......well...nuts! So, if you are a fan of nautical decor, and like to join in the Xmas "NutFest", then there is a good chance the Sea Captain nutcracker in the last picture will have some appeal.
