Personalized Angel Ornaments For Hanging on the Christmas Tree

Angels are very much a part of a traditional Christmas and the nativity scene that all Christians, and many non Christians, are familiar with. Angels, though, are not simply a Christian symbol, they have appeared in other ancient religions too.

The word "angel" has become a part of the English vocabulary that has an expressive meaning; "be an angel" can often be part of a request to do something very beneficial and helpful; "he's an angel" can mean a child who is well behaved, or a reference to a man who has brought good luck or financial benefit. Angel can also be a name; in fact, one of the top stars here in the Philippines is Angel Locsin, who played Sabina in Majika recently.

With the varied background of an angel, it is not surprising that angel ornaments can be very varied also, as the pictures we show here quite clearly reveal. While some ornaments may be modelled on the ancient vision of an angel, as portrayed in sculptures from different old civilisations, Christmas angel ornaments can differ widely from that vintage image.

With the modern angel variants, the image of celestial goodness and the wings are still there, as you can see in each of our pictures. In these particular examples, the angel ornaments are for hanging from a Christmas tree, and also have the added benefit of being personalized. Modern variations can be less ethereal than earlier representations, but the underlying message is the same.

The top angelic ornament we show is exhibits the heavenly arrival of a baby boy, carried by by a modern, and resin based, angel. The second reminds us that an angel need not be of white skin, but can be brown or black too. The third is a simple boy angel, a cherubic little ornament that would look rather cute hanging on the tree. The final picture (left) is a bit more unusual, and aimed at children and babies, showing a cute little bear angle carrying a star sign, perched on top of a pretty Christmas tree ball.
